Want to lose weight from running? Do it the right way.

Losing weight with running

We all know that exercise can help us to lose weight. It’s true when the say that the more you move, the more calories you burn and that is true when it comes to running.

If you want to lose weight from running then you need to make sure that you do it right. We all have the ability to run, but there is slightly more to it than putting on your running trainers and hoping for the weight to drop off. So here is how to do it right.

It all starts with your diet

You can pound the pavement for hours if you wish but if you aren’t paying attention to your diet then you’re doing it all for nothing. Running is undoubtedly a great way to shed the weight as, at an average pace it burns around 100 calories per mile.

However, if you are going to put in blood, sweat and tears to lose weight through running you need to make sure you making that up with good dietary decisions. For instance, if you burn 400 calories after a quick run, it doesn’t give you free rein to go and consume a huge bag of your favourite chocolates unless you want to put all of those calories back in!

The trick is to get running, burn those calories and keep the weight off.

Be prepared to push yourself but don’t worry too much

If you want to start running to lose weight then don’t stress over it. All you need to do is get out there and get moving. It really is as simple as that.

You don’t have to get obsessed with optimised training plans (though we’re not going to stop you!). Just put on your gear on and get out there, do some running, and burn those calories! While it’s important that you’re prepared to push yourself, it’s also important to not wear yourself out. If you push yourself too much, you’ll inevitably lose interest and find yourself back where you started. No bueno.

Training plan

Take things at a slower pace then that is where you should start. If you prefer sprinting then so be it. The aim here is to make sure you get out there running and moving, the pace you do it at is down to you.

Build Muscles

Running can take its toll on the body, which is the same as any other exercise. However, it can prove challenging for the joints but to get the most from running and to give yourself the chance of losing weight, you should make sure your muscles support your joints. What’s more, in building muscle, you will also be burning calories and we all know that more muscle means more calories burned. It is a win-win situation.

Embrace it and Enjoy it

Running should not be seen as a chore. In fact, you should expect to enjoy it, especially when you experience that runner’s high. Exercise and running in particular releases endorphins. This makes running a pleasurable experience and will leave you wanting more!

At first, it will be hard. In fact, it should always be challenging but push beyond the challenging part and you will find that runner’s high waiting for you.
